Morocco can rejoin AU in a manner that wouldn’t upset Polisario’s self-determination demand (Ethiopian official)

Mr Girma Temesgen, African Affairs Director General in the ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that if Morocco asks to rejoin the AU, it can do so but it should be in a manner that wouldn’t upset Polisario’s self-determination demand, reported today ethiopian daily The Ethiopian Herald
On the occasion of the reception given by Ethipian Prime Minister Hailemarian Dessalegn to Saharawi Minister delegate to Africa Hamdi Jalil coming to deliver a message from saharawi president, Mr Temesgen highlighted that Morocco, as former member, has the right to rejoin the AU as long as its fulfills the procedures to do so.
The Director General also noted that Ethiopia’s position on Polisario has been very clear and it is the same position as the AU and if Morocco wants to rejoin it can do so but should not be at the cost of SADR.
Hamdi Jalil had talks with the Ethiopian Premier on bilateral relations and Ethiopia’s position with regard to Morocco’s request to rejoin African Union.
