According to Alon Ben David, the Israeli defense correspondent, the hostages « were not subjected to torture or ill-treatment and there was not much food. »
He said Hamas tried to provide medications daily, though not always successfully. The captives were kept together and allowed to carry « normal » activities.
Other TV guests noted that these declarations match the testimony of previous hostages released, regarding the dignity and fair treatment received under Hamas.
Full text of his statement:
The story is very similar to that of Yochved Levishiz. They entered a long tunnel for several kilemeters, part of them traveled by motorcycle with a Hamas man and part on foot for 4 o 5 kilometers apparenty towards The Khan Yunis Hospital. There, they were kept as a signle group the whole time. They stated that they were not subjected to torture or ill-treatment.
The food was scarce; there wasn’t much food. This is noticeable they all lost weight. Hamas tried to provide the requierd medications avery day but there were days when medicine was provided and others without.
However, Hamas attempted tp provide medications daily but didn’ always suceed. They descrbe that the majority of the hostages were together holding mettings and lectures, sharing stories. Their activities and being together gave them strength to survive these underground conditions.
Some heard on the radio in the tunnel about their relatives who died on « Black Saturday », and some received the news testerday. They were informed that some of their family members were killed on that day.
All the hostages were together, speaking of good conditions and treatment by Hamas in adition to the mediatics they were not subjected to violent treatment or torture.
One of the most revealing things is that they were from the kibbutz and maintained their lifestyle even there which helped them stay strong as they were all together, feeling like one community even in captivity.
It is important to mention that many accused Yochved Leviskiz but she stated these very things. She faced bad treatment and was described as causing significant media harm. Accused of lying due to her husband being in captivity and that Hamas influenced her, brainwashing her before her release. But every word she said was true and these people are making the same statements, because they were all in the same group.
Those who were released yesterday communicated with other families with hostages informing them that their family members are fine and alive as they were aith them, reassuring the families that they are alive and well.
