The Al Qassam fighters, the armed wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement, continue to surprise by their steadfastness, determination and courage in the face of the Israeli army of occupation and its brutal war machine. They have also won the battle of communication, their actions illustrated and documented with sound, image and message. Their inspiration? « It’s a jihad of victory or martyrdom ». The division of the martyr Izzeddine Alqassam, after whom the Hamas fighters are named.
On the other side, Tsahal continues to show unconvincing videos whose extras are very bad actors. The army of occupation has been unable to provide any material proof of the supposed success and heroism of the Israeli soldiers, whose nights have become a nightmare and many of whom have been affected by serious psychological illnesses.
In a bid to make up for nearly 3 months of war and defeat, the Hebrew propaganda service filmed a Palestinian fighter as he fell under attack from an Israeli drone. Presented as a « victory », the video went viral because of the attitude of the Alqassami fighter. Knowing that his journey was over because of the seriousness of his injury, he makes a last effort to sit up, raises his index finger to the sky to let his enemy know while he is taking the photo that « you will not break my will » and that « you will not take the illusory photo you want ». Then he prostrated himself before God and rejoined his creator. He was proud to die a martyr’s death for the cause, convinced that eternal glory awaited him in the hereafter.
The enemy wanted to use these images to denigrate this fighter but the ball backfired, because they are proof of the tenacity, strength and resolve of the Palestinian resistance. The image of the martyr prostrate before God in the direction of Mecca has travelled around the world and been emulated. He has never in his life known what it means to break or fall or think of surrendering to a brutal enemy, however strong, however unjust and tyrannical, and whatever its nature. The defeat that the enemy wanted to sell became a symbol of strength, pride and victory.
The images spread like wildfire both among Hamas supporters and in Israel. For Israeli soldiers, this gesture explains the determination and bravery of Hamas fighters. For Arabs and Muslims, it will remain forever in their memories as an example of a fighter dedicated to the cause of his people.
